Phyllis Kay Sanchez

Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Belmont Senior Care Assisted Living Community, Pueblo

Phyllis is a native Puebloan. She is the Founder & CEO of Belmont Senior Care (BSC) Assisted Living Community, a private nonprofit corporation which purchased the facility 24 years ago.  Phyllis had been employed by the facility and when it was placed on the market, she founded the nonprofit corporation which purchased the facility.  BSC has 49 beds which were built for assisted living and located in a private cul de sac to promote a home-like environment. The facility offers assisted living to frail seniors as well as a specialized Alzheimer’s home. Adult Day Care with transportation is available Monday – Friday from 9am-3pm. Respite or short term stays are also available.

Phyllis serves as the President of the Pueblo City Schools Board of Education. She has served for 8 years and has 2 years left on her concurrent term. She is the first Pueblo City Schools board member to be elected to the Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB). She is a member of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) and has made numerous Congressional visits for NALEO on behalf of Education issues, the Voter Rights Act and Census Advocacy in Washington DC. She has also served as a NALEO Mentor to Newly Elected Latino School Board Members and served as a speaker on their national training panels. She is a member of the American College of Health Care Administrators as well as the Greater Chamber of Commerce and Latino Chamber of Commerce.
