Who We Are
Born and raised in Colorado, Monica has always been committed to doing work in the place she calls home. Introduced to the field of public health in college, she immediately knew it was the career path for her and went on get a master’s degree in public health. Working with youth and families is a consistent thread through her professional and volunteer work, from coaching youth sports to supporting pregnant and parenting teens and their children. Monica is motivated professionally and personally by the belief everyone has a voice and should be included efforts to building healthy communities.
In her role as program lead for the Healthy Youth focus area, Monica most enjoys connecting with grantees, partners and community members and seeing the positive impacts of their work. Before joining Caring for Colorado, Monica was a program officer at the Colorado Health Foundation. There, she worked with grantees and community partners to increase access to health in early childhood settings, K-12 schools, and through community resources like parks, housing and transportation.
Outside of work, Monica enjoys good food, good music and spending quality time with family and close friends.
