Nonprofit Capacity Building
Purpose
Strengthen nonprofit capacity and cross-sector connectivity that leads to greater organizational and community-wide impact.
Why We Care
To do great work, nonprofits need strong leaders, clear plans, efficient systems, and a robust, diversified revenue stream. This takes investment in staff and time to explore and plan — something for which many nonprofits on limited or restricted budgets have few resources to spare.
By investing in capacity-building efforts, we support grantees in developing the skills, infrastructure, resources, and relationships to improve or sustain their operations, governance, and program delivery. Effective capacity-building efforts can result in increased efficiency, greater impact, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and an ever-changing sector. When capacity building is successful, nonprofits can better serve their communities, address complex social issues, and create lasting positive change.
What We Fund
To strengthen nonprofit capacity and cross-sector connectivity that leads to greater organizational and community-wide impact, we primarily fund:
- Executive coaching for new nonprofit executives
- Targeted cohort learning experiences
- Organizational capacity-building
- Opportunities that build relationships between grantees and connections with other funders
Foundation staff meet with grantees annually to assess capacity-building needs for the upcoming year. Based on the insight gained, staff develop capacity-building strategies and communicate funding opportunities through direct invitations or our newsletter.
