Juana Rosa Cavero is the Director of ReproCollab, our initiative to advance reproductive equity. Firmly rooted in reproductive justice, she believes that all people should have the power to make the best decisions to achieve their own health and well-being, especially their sexual and reproductive health.
She gained experience within the U.S. and globally at organizations such as the Advancement Project, Latino Research & Policy Center, Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR), and Black Women for Wellness Action Project. Before joining Caring for Colorado, she was director of the California Coalition for Reproductive Freedom, centered on building a movement that increases the capacity and visibility of the 40-plus member organizations of the largest statewide alliance dedicated to reproductive freedom in California.
Beyond work, Juana Rosa maintains a side hustle: shuttling her three kids all over the Front Range, and sometimes NW Colorado and the Roaring Fork Valley, for soccer and dance.
Juana Rosa’s favorite place in Colorado is Glenwood Springs, specifically the drive through the canyon.
“Throughout my youth, I volunteered for the Special Olympics. My brother is an adult with intellectual disabilities, and there were few activities that we could both participate in. The Special Olympics filled my youth with great memories and lots of GOLD medals.”
