Sarah serves as a senior philanthropy lead for the Youth, Health and Well-Being funding priority. In this role, she supports grantmaking, builds relationships with grantees and community partners, elevates youth and community voices, and helps influence systems and policies that advance health equity for young people and their families.

Before joining Caring for Colorado, Sarah served for six years as executive director of Breakthrough at Kent Denver, an after-school and summer education program. She previously worked with Colorado Community Health Network in the quality initiatives division. In addition, Sarah has worked with healthcare and education nonprofits and NGOs outside of Colorado in Brooklyn, Harlem, Washington, D.C., Haiti, and Mali.

She holds a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in theatre studies from the University of Northern Colorado. As a Colorado native, Sarah is passionate about health equity and helping provide access to resources for Colorado’s children, youth, and families to thrive. Outside of work, you can find Sarah with her twins and husband, exploring the outdoors or singing musicals at top volume.

Sarah spent her early childhood in Ouray, and says that beautiful town will always be her favorite place in Colorado.

“In my youth, I volunteered with the Peace Corps in a small village in Mali, West Africa. For two years, I lived among about 800 people without electricity or running water. The villagers were incredibly welcoming and patient as I learned their language and traditions. Experiencing life in a polygamous, Muslim, and animist culture highlighted how deeply my U.S. background influences my perspective and underscored the importance of stepping outside your familiar environment to grow.”
