Heidi Van Law, CPA

Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President

Heidi is a licensed CPA with over 30 years of nonprofit experience as both an accountant and volunteer. She began her accounting career in 1984 at KPMG’s middle-market practice, specializing in small to mid-size companies, including nonprofit entities. Six years later she helped start a local private practice, Kundinger & Associates, one of Denver’s first public accounting firms exclusively serving the nonprofit sector. After a pause while she and her husband raised their four children, Heidi joined Caring for Colorado as the foundation’s controller.

She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Denver. She is a certified public accountant and a member of both the American Institute of CPAs and Colorado Society of CPAs. Over the years, she has served on various nonprofit committees and works in various capacities at her church.

Heidi most enjoys taking in the beauty of this state through cycling, skiing, hiking, and watching sunsets from her backyard.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

“As a teen, I served my community by mostly participating in fundraising events like walk-a-thons, carnivals, and the like. But the most memorable to me was being part of a volunteer group helping residents clean up after the Big Thompson Flood of 1976.”

“If I could tell my younger self one thing to inspire hope, it would be that Jesus is the real deal! You are loved, and there is purpose to your life.”
