Who We Are
Linda’s love of community health was born in Chicago, while participating in an urban studies program her junior year at Colorado College. Far from her hometown of Arvada, Colorado, Chicago proved to be an eye-opening experience as she first learned about the social determinants of health and how your zip code can be more predictive of your health outcomes than access to a doctor. Shocked by the city’s infant mortality rates and learning about the systemic barriers that created those outcomes changed her future course. She abandoned the idea of pursing a higher degree in health care and instead focused on graduate studies in public health at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
After earning her master’s degree, Linda decided it was time to return home to Colorado and the sunshine. Since 1993 she has worked in Colorado, first for Tri-County Health Department in the Denver-metro area and currently at Caring for Colorado.
Linda has been at Caring for Colorado since 2001 in positions of increasing responsibility. Today, she serves as the executive vice president working with the president, board and staff to set the strategic direction of the organization and to support staff in actualizing Caring for Colorado’s mission. Over the years , Linda has helped to create several Caring for Colorado initiatives and foundation funding collaboratives including Advancing Colorado’s Mental Health Care, Cavity Free at Three and the SMILES Dental Project.
As a mother of two young adults, she cares deeply about improving systems and strengthening communities so all families in Colorado have the resources, support and kindness that is needed to raise healthy and happy children who have full access to opportunity in our state. Linda lives for spending time with friends and family and takes every opportunity to enjoy live theatre and music and the great outdoors of Colorado. She also aspires to walk 70,000 steps per week with her husband and trusty dog by her side.
